illustration friday: mask

mask, for illustration friday (incomplete). black ink (from several different pens) on white note paper. the paper was buckled, so the scan comes out a bit unclear in some areas.
artist comments: i think this was the last piece i’d done last before going on a several-month hiatus from illustration friday. as it turned out, this wasn’t submitted in time, and i’d never finished it. my only excuse is that this past year wasn’t so kind. but what makes us entitled to special treatment, anyway? in essence, this is a visualized self-portrait: several times this past year, I simply wanted to rip my own face off.
