illustration friday - blanket

artist comments: another sketch (once again) without the aid of a pencil starter. i really need to go buy some decent pencils. all that being said, i’m still fairly happy with this one. it’s on par with commercial art, i’d say. plus, it’s a fair go at using charcoals again; i welcome the smudgy fingers with open arms.

the subject is me, like age five or six. i had a whole slew of monster- and ghost-themed books at that age, and knew how to read since i was three. so i learned all those ’stay up late’ tricks fairly early in life.

  1. very nice drawing - good composition and expression - I’m always impressed when anyone can dash off something in ink without doing a pencil sketch first!
